So svojim manželom Michaelom Hoskinom sa spoznala ešte počas školy. Pred nešťastným incidentom z roku 2011 sa Turii podarilo získať prácu snov. Okrem iného tak začala nový spoločný život s Michaelom. No ich úžasný a dokonalý svet sa obrátil naruby v septembri 2011.

Our little coastal town is the jewel in the crown of the south coast, I reckon! (People in other places such as Tathra, Bermagui and Jervis Bay would most definitely disagree). Even though we’re a few hours away from the big smoke, there are some fully sick local training options that I wanted to highlight. Emily – Em is a fully qualified and certified PT and nutritionist. I started training with Em back in 2012! I was so weak back then that I used to do my pushups off the wall and walk a lap around the studio for my cardio. Em’s awesome, she got me back to being strong and fit and I will be forever indebted to her! Go give her a follow – @empower_wellbeing. Himani – I’ve been doing yoga with Himani since 2012. When I first started with Himani I couldn’t do a cat/cow and definitely couldn’t do a downward dog (or any other animals for that matter). She has the most tranquil studio ever. And the most tranquil and calming persona ever. Thank you for everything Himani! Check her out – @himani_yoga. Amanda – Amanda is a physiotherapist and a pilates instructor. I saw Amanda regularly when I was training hard for Ironman, and I saw her 3-4 days a week while I was pregnant. I experienced minimal back pain during pregnancy and I reckon Amanda can take the credit for this! She’s got the sickest studio in Mollymook – @bodyalignphysio_mollymook. Kristy – After having Hakavai, I often found it hard to do exercise. I love going to Kristy’s group training on a Tues/Thurs arvo. It’s a solid workout, plus you can bring your offspring, plus you get to catch up with all your mates (this reason being the most important) – @kristy_d_fitness. Anyway, I know this info only helps people who live in my area, but I reckon it’s good to acknowledge the people and businesses who make an impact in your life. So, tag your fave training places in your local area below!

It’s 2016, and I’m in Kona, Hawaii. I’m clutching my bike, the one with the custom handles, designed to make braking and changing gears a little easier for my hands.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Around me are hundreds of the fittest people on the planet. Lean and tall, with rippling muscles – all zipped up in high performance compression lycra and wraparound sunglasses with holographic lenses. Hot, I know. ⁣ ⁣⁣ If the sartorial choices didn’t immediately spell it out, I’m at the Ironman World Championships, and I’m wondering just what the hell I’m doing there.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I don’t look anything like these people. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But I’m one of them. I’m competing. I am an Ironman even though I could easily tell myself I’m not.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Because there’s lots of things I’m not. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m not a researcher or psychologist or anthropologist …. but I’m writing a book on happiness.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m not confident in meetings …. but I’m a successful speaker, sharing my story with tens of thousands of people every year. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here’s the thing:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There are always going to be goals you feel like you’re not capable of, or clubs you’re not fit, or smart, or creative, or tall, or short, or stylish, or strong, or funny enough to join.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There’s always going to be something you’re NOT. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But do it anyway.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Do it even though you don’t fit in.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Be it, even though “you can’t’.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ “And how” you may be thinking, “do I just do it, Turia?”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Well, it’s this simple:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you go for a run, whether it’s around the block or around twenty blocks, you’re a runner.⁣⁣ Your appearance, fitness, gear or technique have nothing to do with it.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you sit down and write something, whether your kids are screaming at each other under your makeshift desk at the kitchen table, or you’re wrapped in a woollen jumper, in an isolated hut way up in the Scottish highlands, a mug of tea and a typewriter at hand…. you’re a writer. ⁣⁣ It’s all in the “doing” my friend.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So, sign up for that trek, book in the date for your floral workshop, register your business name …. whatever it is you want to do, start doing it.⁣⁣ And keep doing it.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Because there’s something you can be, even if you think it’s something you’re not. I’m sitting out at a local surf break. It’s a solid 6ft. The water is packed with blokes. ⁣ A set approaches on the horizon and everyone starts jostling for position.⁣ ⁣ Jeff gets the first wave of the set, takes off smoothly and starts driving down the line.⁣ Next up, it’s Keith.⁣ ⁣ Now I'm officially next in line for the sickest wave of the set but I still need to do some work.⁣ ⁣ I paddle like mad into the perfect position. Surfers who are further away from the peak make desperate eye contact with me. They want me to pull off so they can score this beast.⁣ ⁣ I’m committed. I take three more hard strokes down the thick face of the wave, yelling “YEP, YEP!” to anyone that thinks they’re gonna drop in. My board falls away from me, I'm airborne, but I manage to plant my feet in the perfect spot on my board.⁣ ⁣ My knees are bent to be able to take the drop, I do a quick sharp bottom turn and pull in to the barrel, it’s three to four seconds max but it feels like a lifetime, the world stops spinning when you’re in the barrel. Hooting, I bottom turn again, go vertical up the wave and do a massive reo so big my fins come out the back.⁣ ⁣ And then I wake up.⁣ ⁣ Maybe your version of this dream is delivering the perfectly cutting and clever, yet sympathetic, comeback to an old adversary from high school, maybe it’s kicking a goal from halfway down the field with just seconds on the clock, your teammates raising you high into the air, cheering as you land them a grand final win. ⁣ ⁣ We all dream about those perfect victories, don’t we? Because they’re rare. I mean, how often does life work exactly the way we picture in our heads?⁣ ⁣ Answer: not very bloody often (hello COVID).⁣ But that’s not a bad thing. ⁣ ⁣ In fact, one of the most surprising things I discovered while researching my new book ‘Happy’, is that those big moments in life – the soaring highs, and the crushing lows – they have less impact on our general, average level of happiness than we think. ⁣ In ‘Happy’ I unpack the real, tangible, small things you can do to actually feel happier.⁣ ⁣ You can preorder it right now. ⁣Link in bio, my friend! 📸 @christophermorrisphoto

No on to nikdy nespravil a nikdy sa na nič nesťažoval.

10 things that annoy me about Michael:⁣⁣ 1. He catches fish but buries the carcasses poorly, meaning my house often smells like fish.⁣⁣ 2. He leaves toothpaste in the sink.⁣⁣ 3. His dress sense can be somewhat … lacking. ⁣⁣ 4. If I say “Michael!” he won’t reply, which leads me to say “MICHAELLL!” even louder. To which he will say “I heard you” and I’ll say “Well you didn’t say anything back”. It’s not a very empowering interaction 😂⁣⁣ 5. He’s nice to everyone. This is ostensibly a great quality, but it does mean he says hello to *literally* everyone on the street, and enquires about their renovations and if the health of their goldfish has improved since switching to organic fish food. ⁣⁣ 6. He borrows my socks. ⁣⁣ 7. He’s super relaxed. Which is sometimes awesome (“Oh darl, you spent $899 on a pair of roller blades that don’t work? Well, it’s a mistake that anyone could make”) but sometimes v. annoying (“Yeah, I’ll do the bins tomorrow darl, promise”).⁣⁣ 8. When driving, I like to fill the car up with petrol as soon as it hits ¼ full, so that I can appropriately allocate the time/location when I’ll fill up. He just keeps driving while the fuel light incessantly flashes (“She’ll be right darl”).⁣⁣ 9. He’s very, very calm. Again, a quality that sounds good in theory, but enrages me IRL. For e.g. when I was understandably (and appropriately) worried about the coronavirus pandemic, he encouraged me to just “Breathe it all out”.⁣⁣ 10. He’s often right. See above. Breathing is magnificent to de-stress.⁣⁣ ⁣You know what else annoys me?⁣⁣ When you pre-order a book and you don't get anything extra with it!⁣⁣ ⁣Luckily I've solved that for you 😉⁣⁣ When you pre-order my new book ‘Happy’ you’ll get access to some extra treats.⁣ Like a secret podcast I recorded with some mates (feat. @emmylou_loves @shamelesspodcast, @jessjrowe and fellow ultramarathon runner/grassfire survivor Kate Sanderson).⁣⁣ You can pre-order a signed copy of Happy right now. Link in bio! T x⁣⁣ PS – I explore all those niggly parts of life, relationships, money etc inside 'Happy’. Reading it will make you feel good. Happy, you might even say!
